💬 Dopamine Hit of the Week

The people who tell you change is impossible are often the ones afraid to try.

👋🏾 Hey, friends

Let’s get something out of the way:
People can’t change.

That’s what they say.

But if that were true, my pants would be on fire. Because I’ve seen it — lived it — and recently, I was reminded of it in the most personal way.

🎂 My Dad Just Turned 55

And having known him at 23 years he has taught me something profound.

My dad is Type A to the bone…. meticulous, brilliant, serious, sharp. But when I was younger, that sharpness could cut. He was intense (sometimes till is). Easily wound up. He carried the weight of the world and expected you to carry yours too (he’s dramatic).

But something’s shifted.

At 55, he’s:

  • More patient

  • More emotionally aware

  • Still sharp, but not rigid

  • Still driven, but more grounded

And that evolution didn’t happen by accident.

It was intention + time + practice.

So when people say “I can’t change” or “that’s just the way I am” I smile. Because I’ve watched someone do it in front of my eyes.

🔄 The Blueprint for Change

I asked him recently, “How did you change so much?”

Here’s the simple but powerful blueprint he gave me:

  1. Self-Awareness – You can’t change what you don’t see.

  2. Pain or Purpose – Most change is sparked by one or the other. Sometimes both.

  3. Consistent Reflection – Change doesn’t come from action alone. It comes from noticing.

  4. Environment Shift – Your surroundings have to support your evolution (for him that was his family).

  5. Grace for Yourself – You can’t change from a place of self-hate. It has to be love.

That’s it. It’s not anything crazy or drastic for him it was just real, slow, human work. But the change is massive
